Tiger and Dragon is a two-player abstract strategy board game invented in China. The game is played on a board with an 8x8 grid of squares, using 36 black tiles and 36 red tiles.

The aim of the game is to capture as many pieces as possible of the opponent, by jumping over them with a tile of your own colour. Pieces can only be captured if they are surrounded on two sides by your pieces; if they are only surrounded on one side, then they are safe. The game ends when there are no more pieces left to capture, or when both players have agreed to end the game. The player with the most pieces captured wins the game.

To begin the game, each player takes 18 tiles - 9 black and 9 red. The tiles are placed face-down on the intersection of any 2 squares on the board - it does not matter which player places their tiles first. Once both players have placed their tiles, they turn them over to reveal their colour. The player with the black tiles starts the game by flipping over the first tile.

The player with the black tiles can move their pieces in any of the four cardinal directions: north, east, south or west. Pieces can only move straight forward or sideways; they cannot move backwards or diagonally. A piece can only move if there is an empty square directly in front of it that it can jump to. If there is no empty square available, then the piece cannot move.

The player with the red tiles can also move their pieces in any of the four cardinal directions: north, east, south or west. Pieces can only move straight forward or sideways; they cannot move backwards or diagonally. A piece can only move if there is an empty square directly in front of it that it can jump to. If there is no empty square available, then the piece cannot move. However, unlike black pieces, red pieces can also jump over other red pieces (as long as there is an empty square next to them that they can jump to). This means that red pieces can form chains and capturing multiple pieces at once.

When jumping over another piece with a tile of your own colour, you must capture that piece if possible - even if it means jumping over one of your own pieces as well! If you are able to capture a piece in this way, then you remove that piece from the board and place it in front of you where your other coloured pieces are displayed (you cannot keep captured pieces in your hand). If you are not able to capture a piece when jumping over it (because there are no empty squares next to it), then you must still jump over that piece but do not capture it and instead simply continue moving your piece onwards like normal.

Jumping chains are possible when multiple pieces can be captured in one go: for example, if there is a chain of 3 red tiles sitting next to each other and an adjacent black tile, then jumping over all 3 red tiles with a single black tile would capture all 3 Red tiles! Note however that once a chain has been created, all subsequent jumps within that chain must also involve capturing at least one piece - otherwise you will lose track of what's going on! So for example if you have a chain of 4 Red tiles and you want to jump over them with another black tile, you could do so provided there's an empty square next to one end of the chain - otherwise you would lose control of the chain!

The basic rules for playing Tiger and Dragon are relatively simple, but mastering the game takes time and practice! As always, start off by trying out different moves yourself on our free online Tiger and Dragon board before playing against someone else!

How to play Tiger and Dragon – the basics!

In Tiger and Dragon, two players take on the roles of either tiger or dragon, competing to be the first to capture fifteen stones. The game board is a 9×9 grid with a 3×3 central area.

The game begins with an empty board. Players take turns making a move. A move consists of either:

  • Moving one of your pieces to an adjacent unoccupied square
  • Taking possession of an opponent's piece by jumping over it with one of your pieces

If you are able to jump over one of your opponent's pieces with one of your pieces, then you capture that piece and it is removed from the board. If there are no available squares next to the piece you wish to move, then you cannot make that move.

The game is won by either capturing fifteen enemy stones, or trapping the opponent's pieces so they cannot make any more moves – thus forcing them to forfeit the game.

Tiger and Dragon bet offers great gaming action!

The Tiger and Dragon bet is one of the most popular wagers in Asian gambling circles. It is a simple bet, but offers great potential returns if you can guess the right outcome.

The Tiger and Dragon bet is a two-way bet that asks you to predict which team will win the match – the Tigers or the Dragons. There are usually two options when it comes to placing this type of wager: you can either back one team to win outright, or go for a handicap bet where one team is given a headstart.

No matter which option you choose, the odds are always good when betting on the Tiger and Dragon matchup. This is because both teams are considered evenly matched, so bookmakers tend to give very competitive odds for this market.
